Women’s Soccer Starts CAA Playoffs Today

The Northeastern women’s soccer team begins its quest for a second CAA Championship in as many years today when the Huskies take on the Dukes of James Madison at 5:30 p.m. today. It is the first time the team has hosted a playoff game and the fans should come out tonight to support what a special season the team is having.

Other Notes:

  • Devin Petta dominated the CAA Awards Banquet last night as she was named CAA Player of the Year and CAA Rookie of the Year. It is the first time anyone in the CAA has taken both awards in the same season. Coach Ed Matz was named CAA Coach of the Year and the team also boasts one player on the All-CAA first team (Devin Petta), two on the second team (Sandra Magnusdottir, Stephanie Gordon) and one on the third team (Kristen Blake).
  • The men’s team will finish off their season tomorrow at Parsons Field when they take on VCU at 6 p.m.. Currently the Huskies are tied in second with William & Mary and both teams will most likely face each other in the CAA Semifinals next weekend at UNC Wilmington.
  • The men’s hockey team also has a big weekend as they take on cross town rivals Boston University and Boston College this weekend. The Huskies will face #7/5 BU in Matthews Arena tonight at 7 p.m. and will travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass. to face #16 Boston College on Saturday at 7 p.m.
